My First Blog Post at Konnect PR!
April 19, 2012 5:43pmGreetings from this Los Angeles public relation firm’s newest employee! I’m Shannon, the new social media assistant here at Konnect Public Relations. I am currently right in the midst of my second week on the job, and I am happily settling in and finding my groove. I’ll admit, familiarizing myself with multiple clients as well as updating all of their social media while getting to know all the girls was a little intimidating at first. Now almost finishing up my second week, I can juggle multiple clients and have found out exactly how to moderate my time. One of the perks of working in social media is always being in the know. With clients ranging from baby gear, to cookware, to vegan snacks, I definitely can say I have gained a plethora of knowledge.
One client has been particularly beneficial to research in regards to a current “situation” or problem, I’ve been facing. A new job can be stressful, not to mention driving in LA traffic on a daily basis, and being a 20-something new to Los Angeles. I don’t know about you, but when I stress, my skin hates me for it. Luckily for me the BeWell Expo is coming to Los Angeles in September, and you can bet I’ve been picking up on some great skin care tips and product suggestions while marketing for them. I can’t wait for the actual event!
Skin issues aside, I am elated to be working for a public relations agency like Konnect PR. Everyone has been more than welcoming, and it is so refreshing to share creative ideas with like-minded people on a daily basis. I am extremely excited for what lies ahead. You will definitely be hearing more from me. Did I mention the window behind my desk is a lovely 6th story view of the Downtown Los Angeles city-scape? However, I believe it is the view from the front of my desk that is more worth mentioning..

New Year, New Ideas, New Clients!
January 9, 2012 5:06pm2012 is bring a lot of exciting things to this pr agency. We are starting the new year with new ideas, new employees and new clients!
One client which I have started working on is Babiators, a line of pint-size aviators for babies and children! This is one of those clients that when anyone sees it they have an instantaneous reaction of “awww”. The Konnect PR girls sure experienced this when we got a shipment of samples sent to our office. After checking out the samples and having continuous aww’s throughout the office, we all discussed about buying pairs for nieces, nephews, cousins and obviously wishing we had our own kids just so we could put a pair of these sunglasses on them!
These peepers sure put a big smile on our faces!

An LA Publicist Joins The Team At Konnect Public Relations
August 25, 2011 5:04pmNew to the Konnect Public Relations scene, I am just finishing up my first month at this Los Angeles public relations agency and so far so good!
Every day presents a new adventure around the office with everything from walls being knocked down, new furniture arriving, interns leaving after a long summer and interns just stepping into the pr agency world and then there were the internet woes. There is also the excitement of the big Nautica Malibu Triathlon around the corner and new clients being signed left and right.
As for me, this LA publicist is enjoying the ride and I can’t wait to see what amazing media happenings lie ahead.
Check out Los Angeles Magazine’s coverage of the Nautica Malibu Triathlon below:

K Hotels’ Hotel Diva is the perfect San Francisco Treat
July 12, 2011 10:48amHeading to San Francisco this summer? One of the main areas visitors stay is Union Square, as it is centrally located and is walking distance to tons of shopping, restaurants and nightlife. One of the great things about working for a pr agency, you can find out about tons of great places to stay even outside of LA.
Such is the case of one mom who was visiting the San Francisco area covered on Hollywood Hot Moms. She stayed at K Hotels’ Hotel Diva and she loved it!

This LA publicist’s verdict is still out: JT to revamp MySpace??
July 5, 2011 6:40pmLast week, the news broke that MySpace was sold for a conservative $35 million, with Justin Timberlake having an ownership stake in the company. They want to shape MySpace as a place for music lovers to share their favorite artists and listen to new music.
Working for a LA pr agency, I do have a few reservations about attempting to save MySpace. As a LA publicist, it is my job to help shape the perception of a company/brand and ultimately, get the media talking about it. But even me, who can always find a way to make the glass half full of SOMETHING, is raising my eyebrows at the possibility of revitalizing the site.
Besides the fact that MySpace is SO 1999, I’m not quite sure how the community will fit into the scope of social media in today’s times. YouTube is the king of video, LinkedIn has created a new environment for head-hunters to prey on fresh employment meat, and Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook are just…well, FACEBOOK, nuff said. Itunes and music are practically synonymous. So where does MySpace fit in?
And let’s be real: the mere name MySpace brings an immediate, gag reflex. Who even checks their MySpace??
I also understand that Justin Timberlake is a singer. Easy. However, I’m not quite sure what qualifies him as an expert at revamping a washed up social network, outside of the fact that he sings and that he’s loaded. What was on his resume that said “Yes, I am the perfect candidate for the job.” If they’re banking on him being the poster child alone, I really don’t think that’s strong enough to save the site.
It’s a job that will be a challenge, to say the least. Looking forward to how this all unfolds.
